  • Well I think I found my issue after further digging through the manual. My fixtures use the old lib.lib file and are missing the deflection, offset, and movement parameters. I know editing existing profiles can be unpredictable, can these settin…
  • Ok, I just figured out my answer... had to pull out my old XP laptop to make the software work and viola I was able to get the USB drive to mount and see the floppy disk volumes on the thumb drive
  • I know this is an old thread but I'm curious have you found a way to mount the USB thumb drive on a computer? I purchased a different brand and I'm unable to see the data on a PC. Do the IPCAS provide software or a driver for viewing/editing the c…
  • They made a change in later version to a different R/C network and upgraded the EPROM which as I recall makes the stepper motors operate at a higher frequency which is less audible. The work is quite intensive to change the components and then you n…
  • I know this is off thread for Hog 3 issues but I did get my Hog 2 PC working in XP Virtual mode on Win 7x64. Works very well, no DMX lag that I can detect. One small issue is with the stage output screen, it refreshes about once per second, howe…
  • Ok, thanks, I appreciate all the info on this. I'll play with it some more this weekend.
  • Well if what I read is correct, XP Virtual mode on Win 7 x64 DOES in fact produce a 32 bit OS to the application, the big question will be can it 'see' the USB ports to function properly. The other thing is you must have a computer/hardware capable…
  • I'm downloading the XP Virtualization software, but I'm wondering if the architecture of XP virtualized under Win 7 x64 will still prevent it from working... I guess my next option is to try a dual-boot configuration. I have a show on Hog 2 that I …
  • Thanks, I just put the Widget on an XP box and discovered the same thing, that 2PC runs just fine on XP :sigh: Well this is just dandy, can't make it work either way. What is the current 'upgrade' price for a 2 to 3 upgrade?
  • I forgot to mention this is a Win 7 64 bit machine. I don't know if that would make any difference.
  • Thanks, I think we finally nailed it down to motor/firmware incompatibility. All of my fixtures are running 4.2b firmware with the upgraded R/C networks, however, apparently that is not compatible with the original motors that don't have the quick …
  • So I finally came up with a decent solution, not perfect but it works good. I set an intensity path of damped and a color path of braked. This allows me to still crossfade smoothly but when coming up from a blackout there isn't nearly as much …
  • Yep, definitely been there and have the t-shirt, it started out on mine as slow to boot, but after the fixture warmed up for 5-10 minutes it would boot and run fine. Eventually it just got to the point where it would never boot. Replacing the two…
  • I believe I did both, it's been about 6-7 years since I did the work.
  • You have to gently remove it, I've heard of some people using a heat gun to help soften it but I did not do this. I was told it's there to protect the circuit from contaminates such as fog and hazer juice which could affect the clock circuit. …
  • I've had this happen before, turned out the caps on the oscillator for the uProc had gone bad and the crystal was no longer oscillating.
  • A little more info if it helps any, both of these are v1.9 boards but they have the updated 100pf/300k RC network on the 6219's, but I don't believe that is where the fault lies as both were modded at the same time and only one fixture has the issue…
  • It's been quite a while, I typically don't program too much on the console, just update my position pallettes and that's it so I haven't done it in a long time. I'll try that and see if it happens again. I was also going to perform a complete se…
  • I don't think it's a homing issue because he mentioned both wheels found their home position and did not keep spinning, this seems to indicate some other kind of issue, generally if it's not homing then the second most likely candidate is switch iss…
  • I'm not sure, haven't tried that particular scenario, I would definitely make sure they are all off, also try exercising them, maybe one of them is sticking, is it possible the switches got exposed to anything (liquid) that might be causing some of …
  • Are they succeptible to something environmentally different than the others such as high humidity, fog/haze juice, something that might cause poor conductivity and heat to buildup?
  • If you're certain both wheels are homing correctly verify all the dipswitches are correct, I seem to recall bad/invalid switch configurations can cause the same issue.
  • No prob with v3 fixtures, just v2. And if I use a TI SN75176 or an LT485 chip it doesn't seem to do it, only the NS75176's
  • On a completely different note, I was asking Chris a question about trackspots, have you ever seen when terminating a Trackspot if you pull the DMX line it will keep running instead of shutting down? I found V2 boards do this but not V3, when I s…
  • I've got some pretty long tools but when I looked at it originally since the flag is loose from the hub (not the hub loose on the motor shaft) it appears I'll have to break it down to get in there and re-glue the glass with some RTV and make sure ev…
  • Double-check the voltage/frequency switch settings. If set to 240v on 110v the unit will likely not boot. If the voltage/frequency settings are correct it may be the crystal failed. I had a couple with similar issues.
  • Hmmm, weren't the Techno's also affected by those bad batch of motors? Could be the motors inside the Techno are cooked and need to be replaced but the pan & tilt being outside stayed cool and still are good.
