recording global effect

in Hog 4 Tips and Tricks
how do i record a global effect? i tried this method (record > mask color and effect > selected > global) but nothing happens when i look at the effect sreadsheet the global is (NO)

    select 1 fixture and use that fixture to make your effect and it should be global

    thank you for the help, so i coudn't do a same multiple fixture and record global?
