Road Hog DMX delay

Can't say I've seen that on our RoadHogs.

...And another thing, the touchscreens lose all calibration every time I restart the console! This is a new console so I don't understand why this is occurring.

No...ther screens should maintain their calibration after re-starts, etc.... Is it very far off or just a little bit off?

As for the delay....I've never seen it like that....what type of opto are you going through?

Have you tried a different console to be sure that it is not an issue with the VLs? (the dimmer flags are REALLY bad on all the VL 2000, 2500, 3000, & 3500 units b/c they use a single graduated wheel......just try doing a 30% to zero intensity fade over the course of 1 minute with a sharp edge and you will see what I mean....otherwise they are good units)

A while back we had an issue with the bios battery that was causing the left hand touchscreen to not turn on, but this sounds a bit more severe. I'd defintely say try calling the boys at HES.

The displays should keep their callibration across reboots. Give service a call and they'll work through it with you. Make sure you're not accidentally re-installing the OS every time you reboot.

How are you measuring the 250sms delay? Do you have another console you can patch the VL2500's to an compare the bump time?

Frankly, 250ms end to end is about the best you'll see from any console. Serializing the data over DMX takes 40 to 80ms. Moving the dimmer motor takes another 100ms or so. Add in a bit of processing time and and key debounce and you get to 250 prett quickly.

Just for comparison, the rise time on a 120v PAR64 is about 300ms, a bit longer if your dimmers soft-start lamps.
