Phillips MSD 250/2 Alternatives?

Has anyone tried any of the alternatives to the Phillips MSD 250/2 bulbs ie the bulbs from Divinelighting?

I'm getting ready to replace the bulbs in 16 Colorpros so now seemed like the right time to ask. My guess is that it's not worth the risk but maybe somebody out there has another perspective.
Thanks,
Joe

Stick with the Philips lamps.....you get what you pay for....every time.
+1! All HES units are built around Phillips lamps. I've seen others detonate for no reason causing pricey repairs.:poke:
Like Marty said "you get what you pay for" and you do! Anything other than Phillips are Verboden in my shop. No exceptions allowed.
Thanks!
Joe
They are used in:
4 Studio Spot 250
4 Technobeams
12 Color Pro HX

This is Dustin, the owner of Divine Lighting. I'm glad to be a new member of your forum. Your distrust of off-brand lamps is well-founded. I'm sure that many of you have had bad experiences in the past with such products, as have I.
That being said, we have gone to great lengths to ensure quality and consistency in our products. Specifically, our KSD 250/2 has a spectacular track record. To be clear, there are a couple of differences. The temp is 8000k and the life is 2000 hrs. Of the thousand's that we've sold, there have only been a couple of returns, and that was for the color. As long as you relamp all of your fixtures at once, then that shouldn't be a problem.

Here is a list of all known problems with our lamps:
KSD 575/2: there have been some issues with convection-cooled fixtures, but none at all when the cooling is forced.
KSD 700sa: There haven't been reported problems with the xSpot, but it does have issues with VariLite. We're going to pull it until we get it fixed.
KSD 150: Older Martin 812's sometimes have problems striking the 150's.
I welcome posts from any of you who have used our products, with good or bad results.
Best regards,
Dustin Johnson

I am sure someone from high end will chime in here,
but I am 99% sure using non-phillips lamps voids any warranty your fixture has.

Yes, maybe we could get some clarification on what this means. It would be a shame if that were the case, since there are so many quality lamp makers out there, like GE, Osram, Ushio, and, in my opinion, Divine Lighting.
To the best of my knowledge, designing a fixture around a lamp would primarily concern the following: ignition voltage, operating voltage, current draw, physical dimensions, base type, thermal management, color rendering.
Personally, I don't think the particular brand of lamp makes that much difference, as long as it is manufactured with high quality and consistency, and meets specifications. Of the thousands of 575's and 250's we've sold, there has never been a report of one of our lamps damaging a fixture. And customers tend to be very vocal about that sort of thing.

All our fixtures are developed and tested around the Philips lamps. In fact, we frequently do joint development of new lamps with them.
Using any other lamp than what we specify with the fixture may void the warranty. Lamp failures can cause a significant amount of damage to the fixtures. Even lamps that don't physically fail can cause significant damage if they have the wrong thermal characteristics.
Thanks for the information. It is very understandable that you want your products to look and perform their best. HES has been my favorite manufacturer since my first encounter with Trackspots, and I greatly respect the work you guys do. You are a great asset to the industry.

Dustin
Are you referring to a Philips MSR 575, or a Divine Lighting KSD 575? The KSD 575 is not recommend for StudioSpot 575 because they stop striking early in the life span. If you have purchased the KSD 575, please call us to work out an exchange or refund.

Nice of you to join this board just to suggest a place to buy lamps.
But it seems awfully convenient that your first post is a response to a several month old thread.
I have a hard time believing that you don't work for that site.
Seems to me that you are probably just a spammer in disguise.
My apologies if I am off the mark,
but if it smells like a spammer........

Edit,
NM, Seems to have deleted his post.
but the original post was somewhat borderline,
So I thought I would give the poster a chance to rebut my accusation.
I guess they thought I was correct, or that it was just easier to remove their post.
No worries.
Josh
Not you, there was a post that was deleted in between yours and mine.
No worries.
Josh.
