Bug report - Touching individual parameters

I just tried this on both Hog 3 and Hog 4 consoles and they both respond the same. When holding touch and nudging an encoder, the value came up instead of the palette, but only for the one encoder nudged. For example if nudging Cyan, Cyan would come up in a value but the other parameters in the palette, Mag and Yell both came up with the palette name. I tried nudging as soft as possible and I could not get it to bring the palette name up on the encoder being nudged on either console.

For example you can try using 1-10 COLOR TOUCH or 1-10 COLOR SUCK but not holding either down when pressing the next key.

It seems I am mistaken.

However, in every other application of the Touch soft key, palette references are left intact, except this one. Therefore, can it be changed so that it behaves in the same was as pressing a Kind key followed by Touch?

My particular example is that I wanted to pull into the programmer a palette that purely had gobo rotation values. Of course, I could create a user kind of just that parameter, but that would make for a lot of Kinds!

I think my request is quite logical.

Thoughts anyone?

If you are trying to bring a value into the Programmer try using either the Live or Suck functions.

So can I achieve what I want with a form of Suck and nudging encoders? I thought I tried everything?

As for Live, it would require me to look at my fixture in the output window to find exactly what palette the parameter is referencing, then find my palette. Granted, this isn't a major issue and more often than not i'll know what palette something is referencing without needing to look at the output, or I could first Touch the fixture (or Suck) to find the palette.

I'm after a quick way to grab the single parameter.

Holding Touch and nudging the wheel is surely the perfect way to achieve this, if only it didn't break the reference.

Do you see what i'm getting at? Currently it seems a wasted function.

Hi, when using Touch or Suck, there isn't any nudging of encoders. You may want to look at section 15 of the manual, it explains it better than what I can write in a post.

Sorry Mitch, I thought your previous post had suggested that what I reported as a bug, was never actually an intended feature.

I'm pleased you agree it isn't working. I'm hoping this has been logged as something to be fixed/implemented. I appreciate this never worked on the Hog 3 either, but hoping you all agree my suggested behaviour for this use of the touch button makes sense.

No problem. One way to bring in one parameter is to make a Kind of only that parameter. In the Kind window select Keep Parameters Separate. Holding Touch and pressing the Kind button will bring in only that Kind with palette info.
