edit fixtures.

In the edit fixtures window, simply press the "sort by function" button at the top of the screen. Then you can easily select all fixtures of a type and make a change.

mmm.. somebody is blushing a bit now.. i think you should have let me believe it wasn't possible.. then i wouln't have thought of the numerous times i've moaned about it... well, i guess i can only blame myself..lol..

I hope I do not make you feel worse by pointing out that page 133 of the User Manual says:

Pressing the Sort by Function button in the top left of the window changes the view, so that the main list groups each parameter together for all the fixtures of the type selected in the list. This is often the easiest way to work in the window, as you can easily click or press and then drag to select a range of cells to edit. For example, you could assign in one action the default value for the pan parameter of all the Studio Color 575 fixtures in the show; see Figure 14.13, “The Edit Fixtures window sorted by Function”.

At any rate, you are correct that it is great to learn every day!

lol, actually you don't, becouse i had to check it myself, so i found it out some hours before your post hehe..I wish everything i read got stuck in my brain.. i have read the manual many many times.. Well, i guess it's more in there i've missed also.. But that's for me to find out another time..(and prob doublecheck the holy book before i make a post here, hehe)

I am thrilled to hear that you read the manual. Do you have a printed copy of the latest version (it has a blue spine) or do you read the PDF?

lol, well i read both actually.. the one that suits the situation best.. i read the pdf on the console, or if i'm in front of a computer.. The one that shipped with console is always together with the console.. And the one i've printed myself, is near my bed, and is usually a good tool for falling asleep..(maybe it's here i've read about editing fixtures..)

Well, i think everybody should take Brad's "manual survey" about manual habits.. maybe he can get some info about what to improove or if it's get read at all..

Speaking of that, i had a friend ask for all the different "modifier" functions such as + and wheelturn.. I know there is a list of all the pig functions.. maybe an idea to make a list of all the other "modifier" funcions that are not so obvious(atleast to someone new to the desk)

A "Held key" list could be useful. I have a basic chart started as we mapped all the held key functions for testing with Hog 3PC, so I should be able to make it presentable and complete...

This said, the sort by function feature does not enable you to select a range of cells at the touch of a button. When you have many fixtures in a show it would be nice to be able to click on a header of the column and have it select the entire column for that range of fixtures. Would make editing 200 fixtures of the same type slightly quicker.

I thought for gobo wheels and color wheels, I used to be able to switch gobo and colors in the edit fixture window for each fixtures, so that in auto palletes and on the gobo/color buttons when programming the correct name would already be there. Did this function go away or did I just forget where it is?
