Using a backup desk

yes you can 1 wholehog for show with dp8k and dp2k and the other for backup over a a/B switch for network.
problem is when crash a dp.

Are your DP-2000s being used as backup processors?
Or are they being used in tandem with the DP-8000?

If you only have 1 set of DP's for the show, I would run one console as the server (console 1) and client in the second console (console 2). Run/program the show on the client (2nd Console). If that console goes down, move over and start running from the server console.

Well I wouldn't suggest running DP-2000s in tandem with DP-8000s on the same show.....just the fact that the DP-2000s are on the network can actually degrade the performance of the DP-8000 in my experience.

But if you are stuck with it, you can only log on another client console as stated earlier by Jon

If you want a true backup situation, then you need full duplicate set of hardware (console, DPs, everything...), DMX A/B switching, and possibly a MIDI cable as well if you want to have the backup track cues.
