DP2000 Problems

Have you tried giving it a static IP, or connecting it directly to the PC with a crossover cable?

I tried the Crossover cable, and i couldn't get it to connect. So i hooked up my linksys router and I got it to at least connect. But after about 3 seconds it reboots.

Turns out my DP problem was due to the router. I switched to another router, and it works fine. Still couldn't use a crossover cable with a static IP though. maybe i had it set wrong...i'll keep working on that.

It could be your crossover cable too, or maybe your PC and DP are set to different IP ranges?

Either way, I'm glad you are up and running. Any particular reason you are using a router with DHCP rather than let the desk assign IPs? I just feel it is better to let the desk do it as it is one less critical point of failure in the system.

I would probably do that if i hadn't switched to my main computer router when trying to get it working. My spare wired router for some reason doesn't work. So the computer and the DP are both set to receive IPs from a DHCP, so thats why it came from the router.

In use, I'd like to use a crossover cable. So thats what i'm working on next. I will try to do the DHCP from the software too.

I know the crossover cable works, because I went from using a program called light factory, and had their ethernet nodes. But just upgraded to hog for my system. I usually use a hog iPC one of my other jobs. I'm getting aquanted to hogPC very quickly.

I used the DHCP on the program, and the crossover worked fine. So thats it for problems. Thanks for the help!

Be sure Windows Firewall is off on your PC. I was having similar problems the first time I connected my DP to my PC. Once the firewall was off, everything worked like a charm.
