Hog 3PC on Mac via Wine

Hi,

I was looking to running 3PC via VMware & Win7 on my Mac but it was going to be expensive after I got VMware and a Windows license. A friend pointed me to Wine which allows you to run Windows apps in Mac OS X. To my surprise Hog 3PC was listed (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=8830).

Has anybody tried Hog 3PC via Wine?

Thanks,

Even if it works, I would not recommend using it for a live performance situation. 3PC depends heavily on specific behaviors of the OS, and has to be tuned for each host OS. With wine, you have a mis-mash of OS's. Plus, we're constantly changing the behavior, so it may work with one version of 3PC and break with another.

Eric, thanks for that. Back to VMware and Win7.

I should have added that we don't recommend virtual machine like Vmware, Parallels, Virtual PC, etc. to be show-safe for live environments. Many people use them successfully for pre-production or offline editing, but for live shows you're best to run on a non-virtualized OS.

It may work, but it's just one more thing to go wrong.
