Uploading pixelage

How much content are you loading? It will vary on different file size just like you guessed. It might be a good idea to have the shop do it before you get to your gig, if they will. You should not go through splitters, opto’s or merge boxes unless they support talk back or RDN. If they don’t they will not allow the fixtures to talk to the Echo software. The fixtures do use unique ID address for Echo not the DMX address.

Anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours depending on the size and complexity. If you have the option to pre-load your content when you're not under time pressure, then do it. Especially if it's your first time.

Any inline processing gear must support bidirectional communication. Currently, echo requires both LWR Talkback and RDM support. There are bidirectional splitters on the market from the usual suspects, but I'm not aware of any bidirectional mergers.

The PIX fixtures use RDM to transfer content. Each fixture has an RDM Unique ID assigned at the factory.

Before you upload the Pixellage content to your fixtures, be sure to set each fixture's "Pixellage address". This number corrolates to each fixture's position within the pixellage template. This must be manually set correctly to ensure that each fixture receives their correct "piece" of the pixellage image.

There is a more detailed explanation in the Echo user manual.

I do see how this works. I will explain and send my echo files to the shop and see how it goes.
