What happened to this piece of hardware? Why was it discontinued?

    I am not too sure as to why they were discontinued... Maybe Brad, Tom or Eric can chime in here?

    But you can still buy them second hand from places like Gear Source or solaris..

    Well all the consoles have MIDI on them, most have SMPTE. They still have the SMPTE widget. I am sure they didn't sell many of these pieces. Probably didn't make much sense to have this unit.

    The MIDI/Timecode processor was discontinued several years ago for various reasons, namely because of the reasons that Ryan mentions. They were designed for very complex installations, but most users used them very simply. Thus the consoles themselves or the SMPTE widget suited the majority of customers.
