iPC Touch Screen Not working Very Well.....

One of the touch screens on my iPC is not working very well.

When I calibrate it afterwards the pointer is always about an inch away from where it is pressed.

Is there anything I can do to it like cleaning behind the plastic maybe??

Any thoughts appreciated before I have to buy a new one.

Many thansk

  • Make sure nothing is touching the surface of the of the touchscreen, especially around the edges where the bezel meets the glass.

A resistive touchscreen works by mechanically deflecting a thin layer of conductive plastic so that it touches another conductive layer. If something is pressing the two layers together it can't accurately read the resistance.

Also, make sure the bezel hasn't shifted relative to the screen. There is a small dead zone about 3mm wide that isn't senstive to touch around the edge. If the bezel shifts enough, it can overlap this dead zone.
