SS575 FOCUS

Sounds like something sticking in the focus mechanism, causing the focus motor to lose it's home. The faster it tries to move, the greater affect any resistance will have, causing the motor to skip steps. Make sure everything is moving freely and smoothly . . . .

Yea, it could be binding, or it could be time for a new motor or driver chip.

1 of my 575 cmy zoom's has developed a fault with the zoom function, at 60% zoom (hog 3 value) the zoom lens stops moving and starts clicking. I have changed out the whole zoom assembly (with an knowing working one) and the problem persists. Is there anywhere else on the light to look or is this a processor problem (fixture software has also been uploaded from a know good fixture).

It is probably just a driver chip on the logic card,
that is pretty much all that is left, other than wiring.
If the driver chip doesn't solve it, try a new logic card out of a working unit and see if that solves the issue.

Does it do this all the time, or only on the first attempt to go over 60%? I had an X-Spot once that would occasionally mishome focus, and the first time you run it out, it clicks and all that stuff, since it is hitting the hard stop, but once it "learned" it's home the hard way, worked fine from there on out. A bad driver chip *will* cause the motor to be very weak, and possibly prevent it from moving the lens assembly, but typically clicking is more of a binding issue, at least from what I have seen . . .

It seems to be every time it homes even setting the zoom to 0% (or to 100%) by hand, it still binds at 60%, Ill have a look into the driver chip and the logic board (once ive got rid a of this flu) and let u know the outcome if any

If you take off the front cowel/cover do you still have the issue?

The lens assembly might be binding up against it as it tries to move through the hole.

The zoom mechanism sounds and feels fine (compared with 2 or 3 others) think the logic board needs looked at, as for the top cover theres plenty of clearance so have ruled out it binding on the cover
