IPC DP's

Console IPC
Software v3.01
Name Cormac jackson

Hi,
would someone be able to clarify something for me please.
I'm using an IPC console with 4 x DP 2000 ID 2,3,4,5
In the patch window it looks something like this
1.DP 8000
1.DP 2000
2.DP 2000
3.DP 2000
4.DP 2000
5.DP 2000

Is the DP 8000 the internal IPC superwidget or is the DP 2000 numbered 1 my internal superwidget,to clarify i'm not nor have i ever used a DP8000 it's just the default from when i start a new show.
This is kind of urgent show is tomorrow friday 17 april.
thanks C

Regards Cormac
  • The DP8000 process is in all the v3+ shows. When you load an old show done on v2.6 or below, you must convert the DP2000 processes to DP8000 ones. So my asumption is that the DP8000 is providing your internal output for your superwidget as net number 1. But then there are a "spare" 4 universes, so your first DP2000 is going to be processing them. Because your 8000 inside the iPC and your external 2000 adds up to a full 8 universes its the DP2000 is the physical output source because the iPC doesnt have 8 universes directly.

Does any of that make sense? Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, this was just my assumption.
  • It seems as though you loaded up an old show as Joe said above. What you have is the DP8000 is the internal superwidget. If you were to connect up a superwidget to the iPC, you would be able to take advantage of the additional 4 universes of output (for a total of 8) as per the normal way it used to work in V2.6 and before. However, in this case, you would map those of the external superwidget in the network window to those last 4 universes of the DP8000.

So what I see is that you have an 8000 and 5@2000's. So you then had an old show (I'm assuming) that had 4@DP2000's external and using the internal 4 universes on the iPC in it? In this case, you would simply convert over the DP2000 in the show to the 8000, via cloning the universes, if you need to.

So in short, yes, the DP8000 is the internal superwidget of the console. The DP2000 labeled 1 can be cloned over to the DP8000 and deleted if you don't want it in there, but it won't hurt nor will it add any processing to the console as it's just not there.
