Programming Fixture Groups with parameters...

If after you press 'Record' once you have the things you want to record in the programmer, you use the mask options in the Record Options toolbar (bottom right of right-hand screen) you can toggle which parameters (colour, beam , intensity, etc...) you want to record into your palette. They say Use I (intensity) , Use B (beam), use C (colour) etc....The top right of each palette will then tell you what parameters it contains.

...thanx andy, but, how i wrote in my question...i work with "USE", i know the possibility of "masking"...that means, i do it like you suggest...but it doesn´t work on my hog 3....that´s the problem...means,once again: selecting the fixtures-selecting the position-record-use (P)-select the group button to record.....but if i control afterwards, the group button doesn´t contain the pan/tilt parameters, only the selected fixtures....

You can't record attributes into "groups" - they are for fixture selection only. So if you want the information in your programmer, it is a two step process of choosing the group with the fixtures you want, then applying the pallet with position, color, etc.

Perhaps the functionality you are looking for can be done using a scene. You can create a scene with the fixtures and attributes you want, then it takes just one touch to bring it all up (if guard is turned off on the scene pallet).

...thanx, of course, scene is one option, virtual master with release at the end (next go) would be another possibility...but....maybe for some older users like me...maybe i´m confused...but i´m really shure, that in former times, in older software versions, 2.3 (jands700??) it was possible ?!!...i don´t know, why it takes years till i tried this kind of programming again...but i really think...maybe 10 jears ago...those group buttons with parameters recorded on it were my "emergency"-quick buttons for surprising situations on stage....but if everyone says, i´m wrong...then it will be a wrong memory of my old brain ;-))....don´t care ;-))

...maybe i´ll go tomorrow in a museum and try to program it on a old jandshog 700 ;-)))))))

Wholehog 2 and Wholehog 3 have never allowed storing of parameter data into groups. However I think that what you are thinking of is that with Wholehog 2 if you turned on "live programmer" then when you selected a palette it would bring in the fixtures and parameter to your programmer. This is the closest I can think of that describes what you are looking for. This functionality is not currently part of the Wholehog 3 software, but is on the request list for the future.

...funny...i was really shure...wrong memories....but how you wrote...i also discussed often with some friends, that we miss the live programmer....if there will be an upgrade with this nice tool, it would be really nice....thanx for all replies...

"Live Programmer" exists already.....but now it is the "Fade Changes" button in the Programmer window....you can also assign "Fade Changes" to turn on or off via a trackball key if you like.

...not really the same...pressing "red" and all fixtures (without being selected) turns into red or pressing "center" and all fixtures moves to this position....those are the powerful liveprogrammer tools, we miss..."fade changes" therefore is not the solution...

To make this happen needs also a clear indication of what type the palette is. Hog3 can have global palettes which affect every fixture capable doing colour red. Palette can also affect only certain type of fixtures or the palette can be only for certain group of fixtures.

...today i played around with the new update using EDIT-PROGRAMMING-DEFAULT TRACK FORWARDS TO OFF...but...enable/disable...i´m always in tracking mode during programming...:dunno:

Cue1: 1 @ 100%, 2@50% RECORD
Cue2: 1 @ 100%, 2@100% RECORD

Cue2-OPEN....and there should be a difference, using tracking on/off....

Tracking ON: Open cue 2.....2 @100%
Tracking OFF: Open cue 2.... 1 @100%, 2 @ 100%

...am i wrong??...

As stated above, this feature is not currently targeted to a release... but all your comments have been noted.

Also as stated above, please remember that the Wholehog 2 OS did not have "Global" palettes and only "by Type" instead. So this feature is a bit more complicated to specify and implement given the current software improvements... however that will not deter us and we shall come up with a spec that tries to satisfy all your requests.

You have probably heard about scenes before as in previous posts, but i find that this the best way to get close to the "live programmer" feature as in hog 2. I am now a hog 3 user and do miss the old functions of the hog 2 that are not on the 3 but I can achieve everything I want from using scenes on a touch screen, also times can be edited fast using the spreadsheet function.
