Motorized fader - upgrade kit?

QueerdooQueerdoo Registered User
By first: why didn't WH3 got motorized fader at the first time?

My opinon is that WH3 (and the other consoles) is pretty hard worked with only 10 faders. Yes, i can get more playback wings, but those are expensive.

Yes - i can use more pages, but people that not are regulary users of the consoles have some problems with fader values on different pages.

So, why don't get us an upgrade kit with motorized faders?

Btw, happy new year...2h left here in sweden.

It is a good idea. That is one of the few features the GMA has that the H3 doesnt offer. Im sure HES will take this into consideration.

I personally don't care for motorized faders and I'm happy the H3 doesn't have them.

I know it's personal preference...and that's just me. I change pages on a regular basis and have never had a problem with fader values. For inhibitors, I just switch to the page, make the adjustments, and jump back to the lists. I think having faders flying as I'm changing is more of a hassle to me.

    That's just my two cents....

Jon is right. It is a personal preference. All depends on whether high end can see enough demand for them, if there is a market for a product, then it will get implemented.. but if only a few people want it, it is not worth high end developing it and putting money into it...

I have seen too many consoles that have motorized faders start to creep as they age. If they were to add any hardware to the line I would like a mini wing with just 20 playback and bump buttons. It should be easy to move over from the full expansion wing.

I think that consoles like the avo pearl that have about 60 faders for fixture intensity or whatever, AND 15 masters should have motorized faders. But on the hog where you only have 10 masters you don´t really need it

Or make it where you can turn on or off the motors... Then everyone is happy right? ;-)

We can look at digital mixers; Yamaha 01V(96) has only 16 faders, but they are motorized. Why? More layers and functions on the same layer. Hog has 10 pages (layers). Same on other consoles.

Look at Maxxyz; only 10 faders but they are motorized.

I think when you have motorized faders you don't have to keep an eye on values on other pages and you probably work faster, but some of you not.

I grow up with digital consoles and i "work" digital - so i wonder why the lightconsoles doesn't work at the same way as soundconsoles do?

    This is my 0.2SEK...

It may be more than you think. Its the motors that add the weight...

Gah, the motors in the faders don't weight soo much as they add a lot of kg's to the console...

I have a lot of digital audio consoles, i know how much they weight... And the faders is not the heavy load.

10 faders - max 1½ kg extra... max!

    Magnus,

To answer your original question about an upgrade kit for motorized fader, no we do not plan to make a kit. Motorized faders have certain spacial and electrical considerations that prevent the current consoles from being upgraded. The Wholehog 3 was designed before motorized faders were common on lighting consoles, but some thought was put into the software for a similar capability.

The playback bar will display previous fader values when changing pages thus providing many of the same capabilities of motorized faders. Of course I understand the differences, but this does allow you to restore previous fader values.

if you take the UPS out of the MA you could lift it with your third leg, get of the grass motorized faders don’t weigh anything , anyway isn’t that what you have loaders for?
I am in favor of them.
