Effect on fader (again)

Hi Guys.
i searched the forum, and tried all of the tips you guys gave on doing this, but i can't get it working.

i need to get an effect on a fader, that will work from the position the movers are in, (like Avolites)

it seems possible, but i need a guy, that's got 10 minutes to talk me through it, with wich buttons to select, and what to do.. preferrably by MSN messenger.

hope anybody can find the time to give me a hand.

I'm not sure, but Pile add FX option might help?

EH - dblux,
if I am understanding you correctly (ive been known to completely misinterpret some requests:dunce: ),
you can record effects onto a cuelist by using "use E" (effect) and "use T" (time) which will appear on the bottem of the right screen when you push record. You can also include IPCB parameters. This is covered in section 17.6.2 of the manual www.highend.com/support/downloads/dl/manual_en121208.pdf

hi guys, thanks for you help

unfortunately this ain't working :)

the problem is not to record the effect to a cuelist, not a problem, but i can't get the effect to play of the possition i select in the position directory. i need to be able to select the different positions in the directory, and the add the effekts by the fader (just like avolites)

Hi EH,

Two things to do/look at.

1- Make sure that your cuelists have the option "Pile Add Effects" turned on.

2- Either make the Cue Lists/Scenes with your positions a higher priority value, or when you record the Effect, make sure there is no Position data in the Cue/Scene (do this by Knocking Out just the Position before recording, or by using the IPCBET masks).

yea that´s about right.
as long as you only record effect and (maybe) time to the cue list you'll be able to switch positions at will

Marty is correct (of course) - you just need to record the effect without any position information...

one other thing to consider is to make your effect fader an IPCB fader that way you can control the size of your effect as well.

hi guys. thanks for the help.

well martys advise makes really good sense, he wrote it in another thread aswell. i tried that even before i searched this forum.

i tried doing this:

selecting pos, adding the effekts, press and hold the knock out, while touching the pan/tilt wheels, so that the encoder wheels just say "effect", then record scene/cuelist, setting as IPCB fader, and pile add effects

but STILL i can't get it to play of the positions i select in the posission directory.

hmm maybe it's just me?

If you are changing the position from the Position Palette directory....then the Programmer is going to override what is in your cue. (which is what you typically want the Programmer to do if you select a Fixture or Group and then a Position.....you wouldn't want to see it still "wiggling")

You need to have a separate Cuelist with your positions recorded into them (or multiple Lists....they can be virtual ones....or virtual Scenes as well so you can trigger them from the touchscreens and not eat up Masters).

well marty, that makes sence, i know the option of using masterles cus and such, but i was just hoping that there was an option to use the directory.. but the seperate lists should do the same trick :)
