Updating console best Practices?

I'm looking for some conventional wisdom and best practices people use after upgrading the console software.

How many standard upgrades before doing a clean .iso install?

Do you just launch old shows, or do you make a new show then merge in old show info (as I've heard some people do)? What are the advantages of creating a new show then merging?

Anything else to be thinking of?

I'm always doing clean install, I'm only doing upgrade for minor releases (just one or two corrections).

I do a clean install most times, making sure that I save any shows that are on the desk that I may need later...just in case. I've never had any problems with minor release upgrades either, similar to the thought process of Steph.

Thanks for the input.

So about creating new shows vs using shows created in older versions. As our system is a permanent install at a church, we normally have a single show that gets updated from week to week and we just keep using it as the software gets upgraded. Should we be merging our old show into a new show to get all the benefits of the upgrade, or does it not matter?

Ted,

It only really matters if you need newer fixture profiles or library updates for some reason. Other than that you should be fine to just use your older showfile on the newer software.
