IPC Over Heat?

Hi all

I set up for a gig saturday night and had to leave my IPC unattended so I put the lid over it for a couple of hours while I was away.

When I returned I was surprised how hot it was under there and to find the right hand monitor was off. It seemed to be caused by the desk as it would come on but said no signal. I also then noticed the left screen was frozen and the only thing on the desk working was the playback masters. I also noticed when I played back busy cues with chases etc the desk response was very slow!

I did not want to risk restarting before the show as the load show options come up on the right screen so if it had not worked after a power down i would have had no show at all!

Anyway after the show I pulled the power and restarted and all came back fine. Obviously I'll think twice about covering it again, but could this have shown a fault with the desk? Could this happen again in a hot enviroment which wouldn't be unual!

Many thanks

    It is a computer,
so they really don't like closed enviroments,
That being said, I have never seen a computer overheat no matter the temperature, as long as it is supplied with good airflow.

Putting the cover over the desk is while it is on is always a bad idea....you can block the airflow vents, and also possibly put pressure on keys that might execute commands you don't want to happpen.

If it hurts when you go like...that. Then don't go like...that. ;)
