Technobeam Question

Could be a different lamp.
the MSD250/2's have a different color temperature than the old MSD250's.
Of course if someone put a non phillips lamp in all bets are off..

It of course could be the cleanliness of the fixture as well.
It is somewhat odd that the dimmer light is the "whiter" one. I would pull the lamp and look at it.
Is the inner envelope clear? or does it look like a frosted light bulb?
Is it really a phillips lamp?

I have throughly cleaned the fixture so that's not it, I don't think it is a Phillips lamp probably GE as that's what we have in stock right now so I assume that's what they purchased before. Yes the envelope inside does look frosted, it is not clear at all.

I would strongly suggest you never ever use GE Lamps in High End moving lights.
From what I have heard from several people that have tried them, they tend to have "Non-Passive Failure" (Explode)
and they usually take out at least the heat shield and reflector when they go.
And if the inner envelope is frosted, it is well past its rated life and is even more likely to fail.
MSR/MSD Lamps really need to be replaced on a schedule, not when they stop working, as usually they don't stop working until they fail in a dramatic fashion, if you are lucky, only the inner envelope will fail, and the outer one will stay intact.

Thanks for the info, we have never had any of the lamps explode and unfortuantly I'm not the one who can make the call or decide on which brand lamps to buy. I will double check tonight but I think that other fixture whos light is brighter is also frosted looking.

When installing a new lamp in the Technobeam be sure to re-set the lamp hours in the display. Then you can keep track of how many hours you have on them. How to? It's in the manual.

also lamp optimazation can make a big difference.
