Merge Error - Can add fixtures because there are too many

So I am tryng to merge and I got an error that said it coould not perform the merge because there were to many fixtures.
<Merge Failed: Could not add fixtures as there are too many>
How many is too many?

The showfile (Show 1) that I am merging into contains the following:
8 LAYERS OF CATALYST V4
45 Far Cyc 4cir
57 HPL 6 LIGHT
89 SPACE LIGHT
112 IMAGE 85
2981 DESK CHANNELS

The showfile (Show 2) that I am adding to this conatins:
11 SPACE LIGHT
1942 DESK CHANNELS

Many of the desk channels are part of the rig but not connected to a light yet. The way they do these rigs is tons of dimmers that are spread out. Some get used by mutlicircuited light some are to just one lamp. I would add as I go but this would be a headache so I have to have them in the show to begin with. As I add multicurcuited units I remove the unused desk channel fixture.

What should be done in this situation?

I have also tried this on HPC with the same results.

I can also start a new show and merge them as individuals, but I can't get them both in the same show. I looked at the spec sheet for the H3 and it says 8000+ fixtures. This only 5300 tops. Granted more than normal, but shouldn't the console be able to handle it?

Sorry I did not include my operating system in my original post.
    1 Wholehog 3 running 2.3.1(1934)
    3 DP2000
    1 Switch
    1 External Monitor

I will install the new build if FPS thinks that is where the problem is.

    Thanks Josh,

After speaking with you and testing with your show files, I have logged bug #11527. While I can create a show with over 6000 desk channels, I can not for some reason merge with that number. I hope to have more information for you soon.

    Joshua,

Yes sorry I did not get back with you sooner.. we have narrowed down the problem in the software and have a developer working on this bug this week. We plan to have the fix in our next software release due out soon.

    thanks for your understanding,
