The saga continues. Man I have complete respect for you guys that fix these all the time. :notworthy: And thanks for the advice so far...

I have a heat filter with cracked glass. Ready to fix or replace and I have the option of a whole new assembly or the glass itself. Glass is way cheaper so off we go...send me the glass...all 4 peices. How hard can it be, right?

Now I'm looking at the thing. Managed to get it apart without bending the inside retainer. But what in the world is the sticky stuff holding the old pieces in place? My 4 new peice didn't come with new stickemup.

Any help here and advice for when I do put the peices back together?

    Permatex Hi- Temp silicone gasket maker (orange in color not the copper).
    Available at any auto parts store nationwide. Like right down the street.

    Make sure you have them facing in the proper direction or they wont last long and will have to be replaced again.

    ***Note;
    Make sure you keep the gaps proper. You must allow for the glass to expand but not touch another.:headbang: Call HES for the gap spec.
    Do only 2 at a time, its easier and allow dry time before you do the last 2.
    Cure it for a few hours and your ready to go.
