PDA remote

I was just thinking about this today,
I would like there to be a gui via a webpage created by the desk.
Similar to the setup of the Interactive Technology Cueserver..
You could send any web browser to the IP address of the Desk on the network, and then you would have access to a limited Gui for the purpose of focus, or updating postions etc etc...

I think this could be very handy, and all of us with Iphone's would already have a integrated focus remote...
Otherwise, any PDA with Wifi and a browser would work, Ipod touch, or even a Sony PSP!

This could be very cool, and would make it very easy to use...

I think it would be great to ressurect the HANDSHAKE software/hardware, and somehow get it to talk to the H3 network.

I still keep an old PALM VII around just to keep my old beloved HANDSHAKE module running.

I also run HANDSHAKE on my Palm based TREO (currently the 755p, but I also had success on my older 700p), but obviously cannot connect the module:poke: :poke: ....it would be great if an adapter could be made:D

Yea, I have a palm 3c I keep around just for handshake.
Although I am thinking of selling it now that Hog 3 widgets can upload software to fixtures...

I noticed that too when I went to check on a fixture firmware version the other day....I am curious to try it out.

It would be great if the WinUpdate software could be integrated right into the consoles as well....:33: :33: ...maybe this deserves its' own thread...;)

Is there anywhere a turtorial about using the WinUpdate tool???
Because it doesn't work on my vista book. Is it only compatible to XP???
I always get the message in the console output window that no fixtures are found.
I tryed it with a Std Color 250 and then with a Std Spot 575

According to the HES site WinUpdate will run on Windows: 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/VISTA, so you should be theoretically OK in Vista.

How are your fixtures connected to your widget? Are you passing through any optos or any other fixtures? Are you properly terminated? Are you using a single widget or super widget?

Yes its a brandnew singlewidget and a 5m XLR Cable (not terminated[for such short lengths normally not used]) I just connected the device i wanted to update.

Is the software maybe just working on english operating systems (different program-files directory) or with older widgets?? I also tried it with an other PC with XP and i got the same error

I know you are running vista and unfortunately hog3 PC is not currently compatible but hHave you installed hog3 PC since you installed winupdate? We have a driver difference in winupdate that if you were to install hog3 PC it would overwrite the required driver. I hope to have this straightened out in the coming release.

Simply try reinstalling winupdate again if that is indeed the problem. Originally the widgets had some issues w/ being able to "talkback" which were corrected with winupdate.

If that is not the issue, I assume you are coming out of your PC running vista directly into a widget? What LED's are on? Can you ensure the widget is working properly by connecting it to a PC running hog3 PC?

But I will try it again on a PC where never HOG3PC was installed

I would so love a remote control appp for my iPhone or for my few other programers who have iPhone or iTouch. This would be very cool!!

well this is not a Remote Application, but my first play with the iPhone SDK.

Well if we had the libraries of the Network Stack, we could do a remote focus unit.
I will see what else we can programm. Perhaps Hog3PC allows us to sent messages to the Application from a foreign App, so we could, instead of having the screen, simply send "Commands" to Hog3PC, such as "Next" button press, or Pan/Tilt to x/y position.

We did this type of programming on the Martin Lightjockey, as well as in the Lightjockey itself, than afterwards on external Applications. But then still the need of a Notebook. Direct network Stuff would be great, but I guess (and fully understand) that the Network stack will never get published.

Let's see, if there is some spare time around, maybe trying and poking around

you can easily make an application like the one I wrote for the pocketpc OS to talk to H3pc.. It's still only one way communication, but it's better than nothing..
-Actually when i think about it, it would be very easy to make a client for iphone that talks to the "server" part of my application. -Personnally i don't have a iphone/itouch so i haven't looked at the SDK.. maybe time to buy a new toy..hmm..

Might be a good new exercice to improve the Sdk Skills
