sdi to s-video convertor

I've used the Folsom Image Pro quite a bit for applications just like this. Check it out here:

They are not cheap, but you do get what you pay for!;)

Theres no reason to give out so much money for a folsom when you don´t need all the features it offers. When you need just an sdi-y/c, cvbs conversion then try something like this. Much cheaper, best quality and reduced latency.

Many thanks for your replies. I. don't think it will be a problem to rent a image pro in the netherlands since barco headquarter is in our neighbor country belgium

The lynx convertor looks very like the kramer convertor www.kramerelectronics.com/downloads/pdf/machina/7408.pdf. They are indeed much cheaper but will the processor be fast enough to do the conversion for live perfomances.

How are your experiences in delay in frames. Do you also use the convertors to send s-video over cat5 ? How many frames delay in total are in your complete setup ?

I use the Cat5 Baluns most often, b/c I tend to find that they have better signal quality than regular S-Video cables if running over 25'.

The only frame delay I ever see is the delay that the DL.2 itself has. There is a slight delay on the live S-video input no matter if it is native or converted signal. It simply takes some time to go through the GPU on the server before it comes out.

Exactly how many frames varys depending on which ATI card your DL.2s have.

My dl2's are less then one year old. how can i found out witch ati card is used in this version ?

The easiest way is to set Motion & Global to 100%, then select "Onscreen Stats" from Control Mode of Global.

The model ## of the video card will be displayed near the bottom....something like "RADEON X850XT"

The alternate way is to open up the computer and actually look at the card.

Another quick way to tell if you have the older 850 series as opposed to the newer 1900/1950 series is to look at where the DVI cable is plugged in (there are 2 DVI ports on all the ATI cards used in DL.2 and AXON). If it is plugged in closest to the mother-board, then it is the newer kind. If it is plugged in farthest from the mother-board, then it is the older kind. This will not give you the exact model number, but it will let you know which series it is.

Just some info for those who are intrested:

My dl2's have the radeon 1950 graphic card inside my dl2's and did a delay test setup

Setup:

DVD with yc output (simulating broadcast vehicle)
convertor yc - cat 5
100m cat 5
convertor cat 5 - yc
yc matrix switch
convertor yc - cat 5
100m cat 5
cat 5 - convertor yc
input to DL2 graphic engine

The frame delay is 2,4 frames in total for the whole setup. I've called with barco and the screenpro will take up to max 1 frame of delay for the sdi-yc conversion.

I've made for this test a test dvd with every four seconds a beep and on the same frame a massive screen change. I will post a link tommorrow for a download as i found out it is really great to use to sync external sound by cd-player or catalyst with the dl2 content. Just split up the dvd in a mpeg2 file for the dl2 and a wav file for the audio source
