Using Hog PC As Show Slave

Most issues i have seen on a PC are caused by trying to connect using a crossover cable rather than a switch which seems to make the whole process a lot easier and less time consuming.

Hi.
One thing you need to consider is that currently, regardless of your net configuration, if the server crashes, the slave doesn't take over.
That means server crashes and slaves are being logged off the show.
As far as I know a fully capable back up system has not been implemented yet.

Have 2 completely seperate systems, with a DMX Switch in between, so you can use either system.

Josh is correct. The only way to implement a truly fault tolerant system is to have one that is fully redundant. 2 consoles, 2 sets of DPs, 2 separate networks, 2 separate power sources, and a DMX switch to switch between the 2 systems. This will allow you to continue running regardless of most any hardware or software failure.

If the case is I am using Road Hog, can i use the Hog PC to backup the system if i use the USB to copy the whole show to the Hog PC from Road Hog.

The only way to truly "backup" a system is to have 2 separate consoles running. In your case, the Road Hog and the Hog3PC. The Hog3PC would need it's own widget (or Super Widget) and you would need a DMX switch in between them.
