I'm a little confused about patching a hippo on a Hog3. The hippo has 8 layers and the Hog has 4 different profiles (stage layer 1, stage layer 2, stage layer 3, stage master). Do I just patch 2 of each layer?

It depends on what version Hippo you have.
If you have a v2 Hippo (newest), I believe you need (x2) v2 Master layers (1 per output) and (x8) v2 Layers.
Been a while since I've used one though as I don't really tend to spec them anymore.
Anyway I hope this helps:)

I should be more clear on the patching order:
Master output-1
Layer-1
Layer-2
Layer-3
Layer-4
Master ouput-2
Layer-5
Layer-6
Layer-7
Layer-8

That patch works if you are using Hippo V2 in dual mode.
If you are using single output. It's one master and 8 layers.
