I am running the Hog3PC system (dell PC, 1widget, 1 program wing and 1 playback wing) In the past two months I have had three major crashes. Currently I am running the Hog PC1.4.1 and plan on upgrading the software tomorrow. My rig is small and simple. I am currently running 6 xspots and and about 48 dimmers and 6 color scrollers. The 1st and 3rd crash were interesting. All of the dimmers went to 0% for just a second and returned to 100%. It looked like someone accidently turned the lights off. It then resumed funtioning normally. Last Sunday was when my system crashed the second time. Everything went to zero accept it didn't come back up. The cosole was totally froze and the LED lights on the widget went out accept for the bottom light.(I've checked USB wires and connectors) I then had to switch to a backup console that I had on standby. The 3rd crash took place tonight. Does anyone have any insight into what this might be?
We have had a number of important software releases since v1.4.1, so I would definitely recommend that you upgrade to our current release v2.1 build 1618.
You should also consider that when using widgets, all of the DMX processing is being handled by your PC. If you have anything else running on your computer it can affect your DMX output. If you are using Hog 3PC in a show situation, you may want to consider using a DP2000 to output DMX because then all of your crossfades and your DMX processing is being handled by a dedicated processor and you should find that your DMX output is far more stable.
