programming Matrix on a HOG 3 / 2

These days we use a lot of LED's, or hang moving lites in a Matrixs.
Other console's ( Grand MA,Chamsys) they have a onboard Matrix controller for fast programming.
What do people here use to operate a led dancfloor/ tiles, riggs with movers for easy and fast programming without using a catalyst...?
  • Bart,

Many users choose to use PixelMAD or Catalyst (v4 includes PixelMAD) for handling large quantities of LEDs. If you want to program them directly from the console, there are a few things that will make your life easier:

    1) Build logical selection groups. Build groups for the zones that you need to control and build a variety of groups for the same set of fixtures that have varying selection orders. This will help immensely when fanning.

    2) Use the effects engine. The Wholehog 3 effects engine is very powerful. It's especially powerful when working with colour because you can control colour using Hue and Saturation. This means that instead of having to apply tables to Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow to build a rainbow, you can set your saturation and then apply your effect table to hue. This also makes it very easy to write effects that just use a portion of the colour spectrum, like a fire effect or a northern lights effect.

    3) Grouping, Buddying, and Fanning. If you aren't already familiar with the powers of Grouping and Buddying when Fanning, work with these until you are. Grouping and Buddying allow you to create an infinite number of looks from the same basic effects parameters.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
  • Bart,

go to www.artofconfusion.be we have a Matrix controller and also the the floor. ;-) and were in Antwerk (Kontich)

and the file to run the Matrix on the hog 3 is also in the library.

its a very easy to use contoller.
