Hog 4 backup

Hi,
I have a set up with 2 Hog 4, set with the same ID number server and DP8K, so they can run in full tracking mode. One DP8K is running and the other is Idle, in case of failure of the active DP8k I'd like the other to take over . The dmx is feed via Artnet. Can this be done in this case ? because when I kill the active DP8k the other one stay in Idle state, there's no automic switch.

Hi, the patch will need to be cloned from the first DP8000 to the second DP8000.

If both DPs have Net Number 1, one of them will need to be changed to Net Number 2 for example, as the DPs cannot have the same Net Number.

Then in the Fixture Window, select the View By DP button. Then a CLONE DP button will appear. Clone DP 1 to DP 2.

If I have 2 DP's sending Art-Net to same Art-Net Node won't it occur any problems? I mean normally it's not best idea to have two senders to same node because of noise created and lots of problem happens.

All depending on the node used.
Nodes like Luminex, ELC or others can use priorities which can be set via IP or universe etc.

So actually best idea is to use sACN, so You can easily setup priority.

sACN ist way easier to configure in that case
