How far over Cat6?

Hi All,

I'm looking at using a six-pair Cat6 snake we have as a DMX snake utilizing the Sneak Snakes on either end from TMB. Does anyone happen to know how far the Hog will push the signal over Cat6 before you need to reclock the data? I know Cat 6 is rated for about 330ft but every device is different. I've had success pushing signal over 500' of DMX cable with an opto at dimmers. I would also look into have this be a snake to push art-net through.

Any help would be appriciated!

I use the Sneak Snakes to push DMX data 400'. Optos at the dimmers

When I use the same cable to push network data (Hog Net or Art Net) I follow standard ethernet lengths of network switch every 300'. (Although I believe the Hog 4 tech bulletin recommends no more than 230' or so).

As HogNet or ArtNet is just a normal network-protocol i would always keep those length based on the specs for the type of networkcable used.
So 330ft/100m is correct

Everything longer might work but must not. If you need it longer use fiber
