DL2 Pan Problems

mikewoodldmikewoodld Registered User
Hi all,

I have a DL2 with some interesting pan problems.

Every time it hits a new position, it stops... then moves a couple more degrees. I unplugged and replugged the motor and encoder cables, and ran the motor calibration and it seemed to stop for a little while (the secondary movement, that is. The positions were still off.). Then, I power cycled and the issue came back.

Any ideas of what this could be? Bad pan encoder maybe? Something wrong with the motor or belt?

  • Hi Mike,

More than anything, this sounds like a dirty or bad encoder. I would would probably start there.

    Hope this helps,

Also check that you have a "dust cap" properly installed on the encoder. Older units might not have them at all as they were not present in the 1st generation DL.2s.
Belts might also need to be re-tensioned if they have slipped at all.
