Copy efx

How do you copy efx? I have effx recorded to 8 fixtures, but on this show I have 12. I would like to copy the same efx from fixtures 1 to 8 to 9-12. I open the cue and try to copy but it doesn't work. I didn't think to replicate the fixture and I have since programmed a bunch with 12 fixtures that I don't want to lose. I even tried recording an efx palette and then applied the palette to all my fixtures but it only worked on the initial 8. It is efx only with no under lying fixture info. Can you also copy effects from one fixture type to another assuming they share the same parameters?

Also why when I open some cues the efx are in red and in some cues the efx are black.

Efx with more than one fixture are always stored as a per fixture base.
Because this only makes sense re. offsets, etc

You can copy your values from one fixture to another.
Maybe you have color efx with a color-base on fixtures 201-208, select your source fixtures (maybe 201-204) and copy the color infos over to your destination fixtures (maybe 209-212)

    201 thru 204 color effect copy 209 thru 212

I've tried exactly that..... Fixture x effect color copy fixture y. And usually it works. But for a few cues I cannot copy the effects. These effects I cannot copy are listed in black when I open the cue, whereas the ones I can copy are in red. I don't understand the difference between the cues being in different colors.

Have a look in the manual, this will show you the different cue states and the corresponding colors.
In your case the value is a tracked value, that means it is coming from another cue or cuelist.
