Hog4PC to Upgrade DP8000

I am installing a lighting system in a new venue. They have purchased two Hog 4 series consoles (Road Hog and Full Boar) for their two spaces. I am waiting on the consoles to be delivered, but want to test the DP8000 in each control rack. Since each rack has a PC, I install Hog4PC. I have set up HogNet and FixtureNet (sACN) IPs and connected each port to its respective switch to keep the protocols isolated.

Hog4PC sees the DP8000. However, it shows it with v3 firmware (which I assume is for the Hog3). I tried running the firmware upgrade. I see the DP process all of the upgrade files. However, it remains v3 instead of going to Hog4 v1.2.1. Is there a special sequence to switching it to Hog4 mode? I haven't been able to find it in the manual or supporting PDF files.

i could be wrong on this, but I didn't think they changed the DP's from hog 3 to 4

The DP's display indicates that its software version cannot connect. The Hog4PC sees it, but cannot configure it. I assumed the hardware did not change from Hog3 to Hog4, but that the firmware in the DP needed to upgrade.

Did you try forcing software reload? Powering DP while pressing all buttons.

Yes, I tried power cycling with the 3 buttons pressed. It appeared to load firmware, but still showed as v3 in the settings list on Hog4PC. I am assuming that it should match the Hog4PC version. Am I incorrect in that assumption?

The only thing I didn't try was the USB Restore Package. I didn't have a bootable USB thumb drive available. I'll try that next if there is no easy way to force a DP8000 with Hog3 firmware to load Hog4 firmware across the network.

I had the same problem with my DP8K. The USB option was the only way I could get it to update. I tried static/dynamic IP's, and all the other options. I would attempt to do the software upgrade but failed. USB restore was the only way I got it to work.

When you are doing a force software reload be aware to have DHCP server running in the console/HOG4PC as well as the Boot Server.
Otherwise the force software reload will not work.

It was odd. I did that (DHCP server and boot server) and it still failed to reload the new sw. Doing it with the USB was no problem.

Did you had any other hardware connected? Switch? Router? Other DPs? Or straight via cable to the DP

I had one DP which worked fine for several times from H3 to H4 and once I only could do it with the USB stick...
USB is a good solution, needs no console, you can do it in advance and so on

I had the same problem with updating to the last software version. I tried everything DHCP On/Off, Boot Server On/Off ect ect ect.

I tried it with a HOG4 and HOGPC/NanoWing.

The only thing that was working, was updating by USB stick.
