ArtNet and Color Kinetics

Technically you could control these with ArtNet, but not directly. You would need adapter boxes to go from ArtNet to 5-pin DMX.

Since these particular tiles themselves do not "speak" ArtNet, there really would be no point. Unless you had multiple universes of them that you wanted to condense into a single ethernet line to your console, then it might be worth the trouble.

Marty, You're right on in that I want a single ethernet line to my computer. I'm only running Hog PC with a couple widgets. My understanding is that once you connect a widget, ArtNet is unlocked.

Being that these tiles are 144 RGB Nodes,(at 432 ch per tile, is 8640 ch for the wall) I obviously don't want to use DMX. I'm wondering if there is anything out there that converts ArtNet to Color Kinetics Protocol. Or if there is a way to get the CK stuff to speak ArtNet. I haven't talked with CK yet. It's on my ToDo list.

All the CK Tiles, and the iCove lights I have work the same way. Using the Light System Engine to control via a network.

I havent played with any other media servers, so I am unfamiliar with how they and Hog work together, but is there a way to image map in the hog? Maybe in H4? Should I try to find a way to control my CK Light System Engine with ArtNet, and treat it as a media server?

On Hog 3 pc, there is no artnet out except with a DP8000.

With Hog 4 pc, you get 1 universe of Artnet out for each widget.
Or 16 with a DP8000.

There is not a way to map video with the hog as of yet, but even if they did, the output modules to control that many universes would be quite expensive.

You should most likely stick with the color kinetics light system engine.
This is by far the least expensive choice.

Thanks Joshua, any idea if I can control the LSE via ArtNet or DMX? That way I don't need a laptop to run those cues from the console?

Fleenor makes a unit that lets you run cues on an LSE from DMX via the serial port.
