Full Boar networking question

What IP addresses do the desks have?
What port are you using?
How are you connecting the 2 desks together?

There are lots of reasons networking can fail, but I think we need a bit more information.

-Coming out of Hog Net port, into a network switch. Right now I only have a 10/100 switch, but will have a gigabit tomorrow to use. Maybe that is the issue?

The IP addresses are:
Server: 172.31.0.1
Client: 172.31.192.0

The client is obtaining IP using DHCP.

The other thing I see is I am not able to select anything in the HogNet Adapter. Should I be able to do this?

Are both your desks running the same XPe and Hog software versions?
What console numbers do you have set via Settings?
Are both consoles running on the same Port Number?

Yes, they are running same software version.
I am setting them to console 1 - Server, console 2 - client.
Both consoles are on port 6600.

After switching out all of my cables and switch for new ones, I am able to see the button to load show. But when I click it, the error: "Show Database Init Failure".

I also noticed that the blue link light near the ethernet port is not lit up on my client desk.

Do you have a PC you could try on the network to see if you can get that to work?
It kinda sounds like you may have a bad port on one of the desks?

You also could just try plugging the 2 desks together with a single ethernet cable, and let them auto assign an address.
To see if you can get them working that way.
(You also could turn on the DCHP server on one of the desks)

i had the same problem with my ipc and a laptop.

the ethernet port on the ipc was not ok, so i changed the motherboard an now all is working as it should

I will try a laptop today. I hope the motherboard/port isn't bad! This console is only about a month old!

better a month old than beyond the warranty.

Is there anyway this output could be disabled? I am going to try to test with laptop later, but wondered if this was an option.

We have never used the Hog-net port on this console.

I believe hog net is always active.

The database init error is going to be related more to the show file on disk and the attempt of the second console to join the show. Since you are able to see the primary Full Boar's show running from the client Full Boar that means at least the show discovery packets are getting through. At this point I would try loading a new show on the Primary Server console and then try connecting the client console.

Are you still having problems or have you managed to get this to work?

It could be that you are running on two different subnets... Try setting either the console addresses to:
Server: 172.31.0.1
Client: 172.31.0.2

or setting your DHCP pool to administer addresses in the range of 172.31.0.11 to 172.31.0.21
