zzzzzzzzz!!:trink26: That would be a SSP 575. Since the post I found a 16 amp 250v fuse blown, I replaced it and the bulb strikes fine.
However, I noticed when the bulb strikes, what I think might be the striker/cap is making a "shriking" typ of niose, It dosent stop, it gets quiter as the fixt warms up, but its fust something I never noticed before. Is this normal?
Depending on the exact noise it may or may not be a problem. Since there are no fans in these units, noises from the lamp are more apparent. What you should be able to hear is the rapid tick-tick-tick of the ignitor as the lamp strikes, then it should change to a sort of buzz/high pitch whine as the arc in the lamp stabilizes.
Very typical of Studio 575's being run on 120 volt. I have tours of them, and they will blow a few fuses a season.
Be careful when you replace it to replace it with the correct "Ultra Fast" fuse, otherwise if it doesn't blow fast enough next time, it may take the Lamp power supply with it.
Also when you replace it, make sure the fuse holders are pinched tight before you replace it, as I have had several lamp power supplies need to have their burned fuse holders replaced.
