dp8k artnet prob

The DP8000 (and RHFB) will auto-crossover, but depending on what you're connecting to, auto-crossover isn't 100 percent reliable. If you have a proper crossover cable you can try that, it may help.

Other than that, you'll need to experiment with your network settings. Make sure the fixture link settings are the same between the DP8000 and the RHFB. If you're using a DHCP server, make sure you're getting a valid IP on the Mac. Check the Mac's network settings.

You can also try Unicasting the Art-Net if you're still having problems.

Ive been using the RHFB all year with the same system and cables etc
but will try a crossover cable tomorrow

There are some subtle differences between the network implementations on the DP8000 and the RHFB. They'll both work fine on a properly configured network, but there are some network mis-configurations where one will work but not the other. That's why I mentioned the DHCP server. Some of the consumer-focused DHCP servers only work with Windows.

You can use the front panel of the DP8000 to see what IP address it it using on the Fixture interface. That may give you some ideas. Also, you can try running wireshark or some other network monitor on the Mac to see what's going on the network

so I have my mac artnet set to ip 2.0.0.1 subnet 255.0.0.0
the dp is set to ip 2.0.0.2 subnet 255.0.0.0 crossover cable in between and still no joy
plug in my elc artnet box with the same settings as the dp and it comes up straight away on the mac ??
the hognet side is set to dhcp
any ideas

Why don't you post screenshots of your Fixture Link and Art-Net configuration windows.

Have you tried using an ethernet switch instead of a direct cable?

There was a thread either here on on LN recently where someone was having problems getting a Mac-based visualizer to read art-net. There ended up being a network settings issue on the Mac side. Might want to dig around for that posting.
