Emulator LED controller Error

So I haven't used my Emulator LED controller in quite some time, but I just got another Emu and wanted to test it out. When I went to try to use the LED controller, it doesn't seem to work, and displays the message E0007 on the LED display. I can't seem to find a list of error codes, does anybody know what this code means?

On closer inspection, it looks like the battery has gone bad. Any idea what type of batteries these are? It appears to be a 3 cell (4.5v?), but i'm not sure what chemistry the battery is. (NiCd?). Would this cause the error I was seeing?

Actually, I removed the battery, and the traces seem perfect. I know a little about NiCds and my guess is that since the controller was unused (and unplugged) for the better portion of a year, it probably just became over discharged, and reversed polarity. I'll try replacing the battery and see if that helps. If not, I'll e-mail you for the schematics. Thanks...
