State of the Wholehog 2010

I would like to directly address and inform Wholehog users and customers about the current “State of the Wholehog” in terms of our current development and upcoming plans. With the recent economic climate, there have been some rumors and speculation among certain people within the industry regarding the Wholehog product line. Barco / High End Systems is completely dedicated to the Wholehog products and we continue to enhance and improve the products with the same vigor and enthusiasm as from the start.

Last year we introduced the DMX Processor 8000, which provided additional output capabilities, Art-Net, and E1.31 support as well improved reliability and incredible processing power. In addition, all DMX processing was drastically improved due to numerous software enhancements related to the DMX Processor 8000. Throughout the year, several software releases provided additional features and enhancements. The current v3.1.5 software is extremely stable and feature rich. In the coming months, you will see several releases with small feature updates and additional enhancements.

Our development team is currently working diligently on a significant release planned for later this year. This next major revision will add features such as network backup/failover, color coding, keystroke macros, console locking, USB flash drive support for Wholehog 3, and much more. In addition, we are implementing many changes and improvements based directly on customer requests and inputs. We also have a few other surprises for this version that we feel will enhance the customer experience. Many of these features are nearly complete and already in the early testing phases within our software testing lab. We hope to enter the first of several beta testing cycles very soon.

Barco / High End Systems is fully committed to retaining its stronghold in the automated lighting console market. We thank each of our users for your continued support and dedication to the Wholehog product line.

As always, please feel free to contact me directly with any further questions, comments, or suggestions you might have. I am happy to discuss your needs and concerns on a personal basis. brad.schiller@barco.com
